The final issue of 2015 is here! We start with a work that actually does refer to the season (as the culmination of our previous post about various "Falls"), Autumn Music for woodwind quintet by Jennifer Higdon. Purchase score here

We feature two additional chamber works - Traces for clarinet, piano and string quartet by Kareem Roustom:

(Purchase score here)

And Okeanos Breeze for oboe, clarinet, viola, sho and koto by Dai Fujikura

(Score can be obtained from the composer at his website.)

The video provides a full glimpse of the score (as do all videos posted by incipitsfy). With its extended techniques and non-traditional instrumentation, including sho and koto (Japanese mouth organ and zither respectively), following the full score is very helpful to those less familiar with Fujikura's aesthetic.

And finally we are pleased to feature a work that came to us from the composer, Tuba Concerto No. 3 by Leroy Osmon

We like to keep the blog posts concise for easy perusal. For more information about the works, clicking on the links provided and accessing the full video sites are recommended. And of course, subscribe to the magazine!

Another feature of this issue was a discussion of the UIL Submission Process for composers as well as the reading sessions at the Midwest Clinic. Visit these two sites to learn more - and - (the Texas prescribed music list is one of the largest in the country and used by many other states as a default.) And if you'd like for Sonic Crossroads to promote an orchestral, band or jazz ensemble score of yours at the Midwest Clinic in December, please contact us at office [at]!
