Spectral: Ge Gan-ru - Si

15:37
Ge Gan-ru, composer

Story

Although a different selection than that discussed in the article, this excerpt from "Si" for piano, clarinet and violin demonstrates Ge Gan-ru's extended techniques for creating different timbres - dampened low strings for gong tones and plucked strings like a zither. The piece was composed in 1990 and is a remembrance and tribute to the victims of the Tiananmen Square uprising in Beijing, China in 1989. From a live performance at The Construction Company - Theresa Salomon, violin; Ayako Oshima, clarinet; Kathryn Woodard, piano
