These songs use three lines from Anna Edes by Deszö Kostolanyi (trans. George Szirtes) and set the scene for the novel’s plot set in post-World War I Budapest. I intended them as a study work in preparation for composing a full-length opera, Sweet Anna, based on the novel, which is in collaboration with librettist Kendra Preston Leonard. 19 pp. including parts.
